Adrift is a digital ship log application for leisure sailors and motor boat owners. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you when you use the Adrift website and application.

  • Authentication information provided by Google Sign-In or email magic-link login.
  • Content you create in the app, including boat details, voyage entries, waypoints, notes, photos, and maintenance records.
  • Technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, and basic usage logs needed to operate and secure the service.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve Adrift.
  • Authenticate users and keep accounts secure.
  • Store and display voyage and boat data at your direction.
  • Send transactional emails such as sign-in links and account-related notices.
  • Diagnose bugs, prevent abuse, and monitor service reliability.

4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers that help us operate Adrift, such as hosting, database, file storage, email delivery, and authentication providers. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the security and integrity of the service.

5. Public and Private Content

Voyages and related content are private by default unless you choose to make them publicly shareable. If you publish or share content publicly, that content may be accessible to anyone with the public link or page.

6. Data Retention

We retain account and application data for as long as necessary to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data where reasonably practical, subject to legal and operational requirements.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Choices

You may update certain profile information inside the app. You may also contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of your information, subject to applicable law and our ability to verify the request.

9. Third-Party Services

Adrift relies on third-party providers, including Google for authentication and cloud providers for hosting, storage, and email delivery. Your use of those services may also be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

10. Children's Privacy

Adrift is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date on this page and may provide additional notice when appropriate.
