Today, we took ownership of SY Islander. Ron, her previous owner seemed both sad to be losing her whilst proud to be handing her over to new owners. I tried to make an effort to subliminally assure Ron that we would be good owners, talking of our varied experiences along with our propensity to keep her well, take it easy and make her a good home. The day mainly consisted of trips to the supermarket to buy mundane supplies such as tableware, cutlery, towels, sleeping bags, bin bags, cleaning supplies and a few days worth of food for our first leg to Brighton, planned for tomorrow. In the evening, once most of the work had been completed, settling into the night on Islander has been very cosy. It's a classic interior, very 90s, but somehow doesn't seem to have aged as much as I'd thought it might have. Tomorrow we take her to sea!
